696 Blossom Hill
Urban Village Retail Infill
Manu Studios served as Architect of Record for this 24,000 SF, two-story core & shell retail building at 696 Blossom Hill Road, providing full architectural services from Feasibility and Conceptual Design through Entitlements, Permitting and Construction. Positioned as a ground-up infill building within an aging 1980s shopping center, the project served as the catalyst for the broader revitalization of Sunrise Shopping Center — replacing a dated retail parcel with a modern, mixed-use commerce building that set a new architectural standard for the site.
Manu Studios played a key role in structuring the project's entitlement strategy to leverage the City of San Jose's Urban Village Planning Overlay zoning designation, enabling a more urban, pedestrian-oriented design with a diverse ground-floor retail and dining program alongside second-floor office and gallery space — delivering a contemporary anchor that has since spurred updated landscaping, signage, and tenant improvements across the rest of the center.
